SEA OF GALILEE

At Central Bus Station, the bus to Tiberias was full, but I argued my way into a floor seat at the front, on the steps actually.

I think I drove the driver crazy with my two hours of picture-taking.

From my apartment in Tiberias, the sun rises over the Sea of Galillee (Kinerett).  Sunsets were equally awe-inspiring.

A lot of Jesus’ ministry was centered at Capernaum, so this was one of the first places I visited.  It was so serene!

I actually picked black olives off these trees. Picked up a couple of dried pomegranates, as well.  I still have them.

Leah and I drove south towards Tiberias looking for a place to cool off and we ended up at this resort.

We could not swim, but it was an amazingly beautiful place to watch the sun go down.

After watching the wooden boats on the Kinneret, we decided to check it out, so I drove to Ginosar the next day.

I had no reservation, but a charter group from Zimbabwe agreed to let us tag along.

The gentle-spirited people of Zimbabwe shared their sweet worship and blessed me that day.

GOLAN HEIGHTS

Now for lunch…Mount Bental, a 3600′ dormant volcano was about an hour’s drive north.

I had heard about the military bunker left over from the Yom Kippur War in 1973 at a place called Coffee Annan.

At the DMZ  between Israel and Syria are jaw-dropping views of Mt. Hermon, where the transfiguration discussed in the synoptic gospels occurred.

Explore the underground bunker and see more Syrian landscape at Golan Places
